Your End of Summer Bucket List

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the end of summer is quickly approaching. If you’ve left your bicycling adventuring a bit late, don’t worry. We’ve consulted our Summer Bike Camp riders (as well as coaches and Norte staff) on how to get the most out of the fleeting days of summer while on your bike!

  1. The Splash Pad at Clinch Park is a huge hit with our Summer Bike Camp riders. On the warm, humid days of August, there’s nothing like riding over to splash and play at the Splash Pad with your friends.

  2. The Boardman Lake Loop completely lives up to the hype! Our riders absolutely love making the trek around the loop to see the swans, look for fish, and going over the bridges. The four mile loop makes it a perfect distance for riders of all ages and abilities.

  3. The Vasa Skillz Loop is a seven mile ride from the Civic Center, but it’s absolutely worth the climb up Bunker Hill. Home to some of the best jumps, features, and skills loop in the region, there’s something fun for people of all skill levels to try and enjoy.

  4. Summer isn’t really summer without an ice cream ride. (Or two!) Many of our summer riders enjoyed ice cream trips to celebrate a successful week or camp. The only issue, of course, is choosing your ice cream shop. The East Side v. West Side rivalry between Bardon’s and The Dairy Lodge is as divisive an issue as any in TC!

  5. Another must-do is to be a tourist in your own area. Coaches and riders from Glen Arbor, Suttons Bay, and Elk Rapids send us wonderful pictures from their adventures, so Norte staff and TC coaches frequently go check out the sights in these towns during the weekends. Next on my bucket list? Riding up to check out Leo Creek Preserve in Suttons Bay!

No matter where you get out to explore, make the time to get outside to enjoy northern Michigan in all its summer glory. Summers go fast around here, so get out there and ride!
