Don’t miss out on the fun! Learn to Ride is our private bike riding program designed to empower anyone to get on two wheels. Learning to ride a bike can be intimidating at any age. Our trained cycling instructors help kids and adults learn to ride with friendly, encouraging one-to-one sessions at the Norte Wheelhouse in Traverse City or Rotary Park in Elk Rapids.

Our Learn-to-Ride program is sponsored by MSU FCU.

Lessons run from mid-May through mid-September.

Bike Riding Lessons for Adults, Too!

It’s never too late to learn how to ride a bike! Our instructors adjust methods to meet your physical abilities and current skill level; you’ll get exactly what you need out of each session. We’ll practice getting on the bike, balancing, and navigating small obstacles like curbs (when you’re ready!).  Learning to ride a bike as an adult is easier than you think.

Learn-to-Ride Lessons are perfect for:

  • Young kids learning to ride a balance bike

  • Older kids transitioning to pedals

  • Adults who haven’t ridden bikes in year

  • Adults who have never ridden before – ever!

Fun Bike Riding Lessons for Kids

People learn to ride at different ages and that’s okay! Nothing encourages kids like being treated like a superstar, especially with their parents or guardians out of the picture. We’v e learned that bike riding lessons for kids are more effective when the only person offering advice is the instructor. We’ll help develop skills like balancing, turning, and riding safely.

Frequently Asked Questions

When do kids learn to ride a bike?

Every child learns to ride at a different pace. Parents and guardians can help by keeping bike rides fun, and short, and keeping things stress-free.

Can I learn to ride a bike in a day?

It’s possible to learn how to ride a bike in a day – but it isn’t common. Our skills and drills are designed to develop balance and confidence; with a little additional practice, you’ll be riding in no time!

Are these bike riding lessons for beginners?

We adapt each lesson to suit your abilities, whether you’ve never touched a bike before or haven’t ridden in years.

Won’t my child learn to ride a bike at camp?

Our programs are designed for kids with some level of riding ability, and we have great programs to support rider development from ages 2 to 6. We recommend trying those programs first before requesting a Learn to Ride lesson. Not only is this more cost effective, but it also creates opportunities for children to learn alongside peers in an encouraging group setting!
