It’s Not About the Race, It’s About the Rider

These smiles capture the joy of competition.

Pause with me and remember a race, competition, or game that has stayed with you. Was it an adverse situation you overcame or the laughter that resonates with you today? Or, was it the shared experience with a friend or teammates?

My favorite soccer game from high school was after a torrential downpour. The field was thick with mud and enormous puddles. The conditions were miserable, comical, and clearly memorable. I can’t recall who we played or even if we won, but I do remember the cold water, the filthiness of it all and the laughter that was erupting from both teams. It was simply perfect!

In the Norte spirit of inclusivity, adventure, and joy we re-imagined our Norte Race Team with a focus on what truly matters; connections and camaraderie. We are inviting riders of all skill levels abilities in  4th - 12th grade to join. Previous race experience is not required. We will help riders set personal goals, gain confidence, and have fun along the way. My family's motto has long been “finish and have fun!” For many on the team this will ring true.

Norte will host training rides, clinics, pre-race rides and discount codes when available, and race day support - think snacks, hydration, lot’s of high fives, the perfect amount of cowbell and encouragement. If your rider needs a bike to participate, let us know. Our Bike Library continues to grow to meet the demand in the region. Although Spandex is not required, our Norte Race Team cycling kits are almost finished and will be available for purchase at cost. Looking good while having fun is a win - win!

We received a generous donation that will ensure this opportunity is free for riders in 2023.  At the end of the day it truly isn't about the race,  it's about the rider.
