Hiring Coaches!

Ride with Norte as a coach!

"Ride with Norte and Make a Difference in Children's Lives"

Traverse City, MI: Norte Youth Cycling is seeking dedicated coaches to join their team for their spring and fall youth bike programs and eleven weeks of Summer Bike Camp. These seasonal positions provide a unique chance for coaches to positively impact children's social and emotional development, building connections within the community. Norte welcomes coaches from all walks of life, including parents with extra time to give back and students seeking teaching and leadership experience. Norte's programs span six counties.

"We believe in the power of bikes to create a stronger, more connected community," says Abby Havill, Program Manager at Norte Youth Cycling. "Our coaches play a vital role in this mission by instilling a love of bike riding in young riders and creating memories and lots of fun. The smiles our coaches create are truly priceless."

Havill notes that Norte's programs are primarily limited to the number of coaches available, as it takes two coaches for every nine children. Therefore, as more coaches join the team, more opportunities open up for children to ride and connect with new friends.

"By becoming a Norte coach, you'll have the opportunity to help break down the barriers for young people to connect in our community," adds Havill. "With your help, we can provide more kids with the opportunity to experience the joy and freedom of riding bikes with friends."

Head Coach positions are available for the Mountain Bike Team, Adventure Bike Club, and Balance Bike Club. In addition, head Coach positions for Summer Bike Camp are also open. All Head Coach positions offer a competitive hourly salary of $20/hour. Assistant Coach positions are also available, beginning at $15/hour for Summer Bike Camp. Norte provides comprehensive training for all coaching positions, and their Summer Bike Camp is a licensed day camp.

Coaches should be passionate about helping children stay active, learn to ride bikes, and have fun. Seasonal hours vary, with spring and fall instructional hours ranging from nine to twenty hours per season and Summer Bike Camp averaging 16-24 hours per week for a minimum four-week commitment.

"Working with the community through Norte Youth Cycling has given me a sense of belonging to something important," says Johnny Carrick, one of the current coaches at Norte Youth Cycling. "Being there for someone and seeing them persevere while being on a bike is the most heartwarming experience. It's nice to give and receive that with Norte."
