Norte’s Ten-year Anniversary
Join Norte Youth Cycling and the northern Michigan community to celebrate ten years of empowering kids. Over the past decade, our programs have helped thousands of families get active, build strong social skills, and discover the joys of an active, community-focused lifestyle.
Two Nights of
Bike-centric Fun
Share your experiences as a Norte participant, donor, coach, or community partner over the course of two very special evenings at the City Opera House.
Friday, May 17 6:00-9:00 pm
The whole community is invited to enjoy the premiere of a short film by Mark Goethel highlighting Norte’s history and impact. This touching piece shows how Norte has empowered kids across the region and helped realign the priorities of individuals, families, and communities. Watch the film and share your Norte memories with hundreds of Norte supporters.
Saturday, May 18 6:00-9:00 pm
Saturday’s event is an invitation-only night for our Business Champions, Pacesetters, and community partners. This is an excellent opportunity to connect with like-minded community organizations and to learn more about Norte’s ambitious plans for the next ten years, too!
Along for the Ride
Norte’s youth cycling programs and community outreach efforts have overcome substantial challenges over the past ten years. From funding shortfalls to weathering a global pandemic, Norte’s first decade signals not only the resilience of its core staff, volunteer board, and countless supporters but also the priorities of our community. Thousands of families and businesses recognize the value of bike-focused, youth development programs that get kids moving. We hope you’ll join us on May 17 and May 18 to celebrate our vibrant community and the role Norte has played in shaping northern Michigan since 2014.
The Magic of the City Opera House
We couldn’t think of a better place to bring people together. The City Opera House is a landmark in Traverse City and a long-time fixture for area events and experiences. Opened in 1892, the City Opera House is one of just seven such buildings still in operation in Michigan and the only opera house home to year-round performances and programs. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972 and was donated to the City of Traverse City in 1980.
