Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail
The Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail lets bicyclists, runners, and walkers explore the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore at the speed of fun. The non-motorized dedicated pathway connects the charming villages of Glen Arbor and Empire along 20 miles of curling, quiet trail. Most of the trail is paved, with a few short sections of crushed limestone. The Sleeping Bear bike trail will reach 27 miles upon completion!

The Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail is a collaboration between Traverse Area Recreational Trails, Leelanau County, and the Friends of Sleeping Bear Dunes.
Location: The trail is accessible at multiple locations, including Glen Arbor and Empire

Soak in the Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore
The Heritage Trail gives users access to several interesting sites, including the Sleeping Bear Dune Climb, DH Day Campground, the Maritime Museum, and more. It’s a year-round attraction, too. The Friends of the Sleeping Bear Dunes grooms a section of the trail for cross-country skiing.
