Norte Joins NMMBA’s Trail Stewardship Program

Northern Michigan Mountain Bike Association invites local businesses, clubs, and non-profits to take a hands-on role in trail maintenance this year. Norte is thrilled to join the new Adopt-a-Trail program and serve as trail stewards for the Post 4-5 section of the Vasa Singletrack.

What is NMMBA?

Northern Michigan Mountain Bike Association is a volunteer-led trail organization that builds, maintains, and protects mountain bike trails across the region. NMMBA supports the Vasa Singletrack, Cadillac Pathway Glacial Hills, and other marquee trail networks. The volunteer board is comprised of representatives from each trail and community members looking to expand access to recreational opportunities nearby.

NMMBA’s Trail Stewardship Program

Much of the organization’s work is focused on trail maintenance and expansion. Trail work is time and labor-intensive, often limiting how much NMMBA’s dedicated trail crews can accomplish. That’s why they are calling in for some extra muscle! The Stewardship program will mobilize trail-minded organizations to tackle the easier, more accessible trail work that will allow trail pros to focus on the tough stuff.

Meet Our Slice of the Vasa Singletrack, Post 4-5

Norte hand-picked our section of the VST because it’s one of the most fun out there! Post 4 is located where the VST crossed Perch Lake Road and continues northeast towards the Strombolis section. You can get a closer look at the exact section on Trailforks, and we’ve got the vital statistics:

·       Length: 5,194 feet

·       Elevation gain: 74 feet

·       Descent: -24 feet

·       Average time: 6 minutes, 9 seconds

We hope you’ll enjoy every inch of our section the next time you ride!
