Meet a Norte Hero: Cody Sovis

Norte is excited to welcome Cody Sovis to the team. As our Communications Director, Cody will manage our website, social media, and support the entire staff to ensure consistent, informative, and fun content reaches our growing audience. After four years working at local bike shops and another seven at marketing agencies, he brings a unique skill set to the squad. And yes, he’s Wes’s twin brother.

How long have you worked at Norte?

I’ve officially been at Norte for just a few weeks, but I first coached with Norte six years ago and have been in the background since Wes joined Norte in 2021.

What's your favorite part of working at Norte?

The people. Our staff, volunteers, and Business Champions are just an incredible collection of personalities. You won’t find a more passionate and fun group anywhere else.

Favorite place to ride a bike?

I’ve ridden my bike in many places, but my favorite place in the world is Old Mission Peninsula. It never gets old.

Best book you've ever read?

I’m going to cheat and offer two. My favorite novel is The Enormous Room by ee cummings. That book hit me at a very formative time, and I’ve never forgotten it. My favorite non-fiction is probably The Heart of Everything That Is by Bob Drury and Tom Clavin.

Who is your biggest source of inspiration?

As a relatively new father, I have a new and growing appreciation for parents. Balancing priorities is challenging, frustrating, and ultimately rewarding, and I am always inspired by parents who make time - because you’re never going to find it.

What is the best advice you'd give a rider who is nervous about getting involved with Norte?

The best thing about bikes is that they are always there for you, no matter what you want or need from them. You can go as fast as you want, as slow as you want, it doesn’t matter. The bike will be there for you for the rest of your life. No questions asked.
